Mind Your Own Business (?)

Should I just blame it on human nature, when some people have this knack of getting all pushy with their unsolicited advice?

And while I am stressing that it is unsolicited advice, can I also remind them that I am not a charitable institution of their thoughts on how I should run my life?

I live at my own pace, at no one's expense. Shouldn't that be enough for them to just let me do my own thing? Because at the end of the whole freakin' exercise, I just may have a plan that I choose not to divulge (at least to them), simply because it's none of anybody's business.

I guess the word "concerned" has been a far abused word. By saying "I'm just concerned", is just like your secret password to give me a speech on what I should do. It gets even worse if it comes from a blood relative, because by being "family" (worse, being an older relative), gives them authority to tell you what you should do. Oh let me correct that - not tell, but nag. Nag me into a coma. Once is enough. Twice is really pushing it, or rather, pushing me away.

Advice appreciated. Call appreciated. But maybe there is a reason why I don't call regular like clockwork. Uh, maybe because I don't want to hear it again?

No, your advice will not be put to waste. Don't get me wrong, I do listen. But what I do with it is my own burden to carry. Once is enough. Twice deserves a "mind your own business" sign posted on my door.
